Nielsen graduated in 1964 having specialized in the field of industrial design. He published several articles about architecture and industrial design in Danish and foreign newspapers and technical periodicals. He did a lot of work as a manager of design exhibitions in Denmark and abroad. Nielsen was a member of the Danish Design Group in the Council of Industry from 1975 till 1977.
Also, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Danish Council of Design from 1977.
In 1996 a book was published about many other sides of Jens Nielsen. Apart from being a co-founder of the Danish Design Council, he was one of the creative forces behind the design of the DSB, (Danish State Railways), and the IC3 train. Through his work, Jens Nielsen linked management, quality, and design.

Jens Nielsen operated very wide in his designs. Not a real furniture design specialist though very all round. This makes his furnitures rare and Iconic. The design of this Laminex chairs is inspired by the ‘Less is more’ aesthetics proclaimed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. This wooden Laminex chair offers a distinguished sober appearance.
