Rope was in the 1950s a development for use into the seating area of top design. Well known designers like Maruni Moko, Ralfh Lauren, Christopher Kelling, Francis Jourdain but also Poul Kjaerholm and Marcel Wanders used the material in some of there chair designs. At first it was used like undressing a fabric seating into the real clean esthetics of a woven seat, just 1 thread of the fabric made stronger and larger resulting in rope lines. The need to use new undiscovered materials for interior design was born in the 1950s.

This chair of darkened pine wood and its strong square looks would be attributed to scandinavian designers, with a lot of high quality in the used design. Chair is in good condition consistent with age and use.
