Verner Panton, born in 1926 in Gamtofte, Denmark. He attends the Technical School in Odense and subsequently studies architecture at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen.

From 1950-’52 he worked for Arne Jacobsen’s architectural firm and in 1955 he started his own architectural and design firm. He initially stands out for his furniture based on geometric shapes from the company ‘Plus-linje’. In the following years, countless seating furniture and lamps were created.

Verner Panton’s preference for intense colors and geometric models is expressed in his extensive works as a textile designer. Pantons interior designs, which are intended to cover floors, walls and ceilings plus furniture, lamps, textiles and wall panels made of enamel resp. fusing plastic into an equally masterful and inseparable spatial unit are legendary. The best-known examples of this are the ‘Visiona’ boats on the occasion of the Cologne furniture fair (1968 and 1970), the interior of the building of the Der Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg (1969) and the ‘Varna’ restaurant in Aarhus (1970).

He passed away in 1998. This T1 stool is a timeless design from the early design years of Verner Panton.
