In the early 1970s mr Frits de Ridder sr saw the growing interest in the ‘warm’ looks of wicker and papercord. At that time he sold rattan furniture to hospitals, spa’s en luxury boats. All professional buyers. Due to the growing interest he started to sell the rattan also to private persons in a beautiful shop in Amsterdam. The sales got an huge impulse by the used rattan peacock chair in the dutch Emanuelle films. Business was growing also and therefore de Ridder started to work together with his son Frits jr to have the chairs produced and labeled with own labels. This piece is labeled, and shows the 70s best by having a magazine rack mounted in the design. It has also a retractable hocker. The chair is in good and original condition with minor spurs of aging.
