80s Anna Castelli Ferrieri armchair 4814 for Kartell
Anna Ferrieri was the daughter of journalist Enzo Ferrieri. She studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano where she graduated in 1943. She worked for some time as an editor for a professional magazine about architecture.
She married the engineer Giulio Castelli with whom she entered the Kartell company in 1949. The company grew mainly due to its leading designs. She used a lot of plastic, but also metal and polyurethane. In 1988 they sold the company to their son-in-law, Claudio Luti.
In 1972 Ferrierri exhibited her designs in an exhibition Italy: The New Domestic Landscape that took place at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
In addition, Castelli Ferrieri taught at the Politecnico di Milano between 1984 and 1986 and at the Milan Domus Academy between 1986 and 1992.
Ferrieri also published two books. From Project to Product: Plastic and Design (1984) and Interface Della Materia (1991).
This armchair model 4814 is a popular chair among collectors. Especially with the specials pillow design. The chair and cushion are both in good condition consistent with age and minimum usage.
