Jouko Järvisalo was born in 1950. He has graduated as an interior architect from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1977. Since 1979, he has been designing furniture for several Finnish manufacturers. He founded his own design studio in 1986. He works as the head designer and as the director of art at Mobel. He is also a professor of furniture design in Aalto University. Jouko has received several awards in Finland and abroad. His work is presented in museums such as Designmuseo, Helsinki, Athenaeum, Chicago, Stedelijk, Amsterdam and The Icelandic Museum of Design and Applied Art, Reykjavik, among the others. This 1980s postmodern ‘mondi chair’ was designed in collaboration with the Finnish Inno OY. A family owned company established back in 1975 with strong roots in innovative product design, a high level of original design and responsible production. The company was established by interior architect Harri Korhonen and is now run by his son Niklas Korhonen in second generation. The company’s aim is to produce original and functional design furniture as “tools for architects”. High quality products that fulfills even the most demanding requirements mainly aimed for public spaces. This set of two Mondi chairs show the absolute design skills of Jouko from any angle you look at them.
