Radboud van Beekum (1950 – 2020) was a Dutch furniture designer, architecture researcher and writer.

Van Beekum studied architectural design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After his studies he worked from his own design office in Amsterdam as a furniture maker and designed interiors and furniture for individuals, companies and institutions, including the Anne Frank House. During this period he also designed the well-known cube chair FM60, which was launched in 1981 in collaboration with the company Pastoe. A year earlier it had been awarded at the Triennale for furniture design in Poznan.

In 1989 he joined the spatial design team of the design agency Total Design in Amsterdam and co-designed the counter furniture for the Dutch post offices, which was awarded the Kho Liang Ie Prize 1991.
During his Total Design period, he specialized in stand construction and museum and exhibition design, such as for the Rijksmuseum, the Royal Palace on Dam Square and the Oil and Gas Museum in Muscat (Oman). Every two years for ten years he designed the booth of furniture manufacturer Ahrend at the Orgatec fair in Cologne. From 1997-2003 he was affiliated with the architectural firm Zaanen & Spanjers (ZSA). He was responsible for various interiors, such as theater De Meervaart in Amsterdam and the library of the Cultura center in Ede.

From 2002 he focuses on archival research and publications in the field of architecture and design. This resulted in several books about architects of the Amsterdam School: B.T. Boeyinga, Cornelis Kruyswijk, G.F. la Croix. From 2007 to mid-2015 he was publisher/editor of the BONAS book series. During this period, 19 monographs on architects and designers were published.

Since then he has again established himself freely as a historical researcher. Publishes in various magazines, including KNOB Bulletin, Eigenbouwer and Binnenstad. His latest book, about architect Jan Kuijt Wzn., was published in the spring of 2018. In September 2020, the cube chair FM60 was once again put on the market by Pastoe. As a tribute to Radboud van Beekum.

This FM60 is from the 1980s and was made by Pastoe. We have had the leather of the chair replaced professionally. The upholstery is therefore new. As a result, the frame is in its original condition and the upholstery is new. Very beautiful and timeless chair.
