90s Vico Magistretti ‘Palmaria 709 sofa for Cassina
Vico Magistretti designed the Palmaria line for Cassina in 1995 as a family of upholstered chairs ideally recalling the concept of the Sindbad sofa that entered into production in 1981.
The family consists of an armchair, a lounge chair with a high backrest, a dining table chair, a pouf and two-seater sofas (in two different dimensions). The distinctive feature of the whole family lies in its simplicity and in the clear separation between the structural elements and the cover, a concept that makes the presence of traditional upholstery obsolete. Every seating element has a load-bearing steel tube structure and the backrest in flexible plastic material covered with a single cushion (for the seat, backrest and armrests) padded with polyurethane foam and polyester wadding. The cushions may be fitted with a fully removable leather or fabric cover.
Each sofa, each fauteuil is highly comfortable. This piece has the fabric ‘terra’ earth colored cushions and matching terra leather backrest and frame. Because of its form and clothing this palmaria sofa is extremely comfortable to sit in for hours and hours. Very good condition consistent with age and use.
