Marcel Breuer did create a new type of furniture with the Wassily Chair and an “abstract-real-sculpture” (Siegfried Geidion), in which the minimalism of new form finders is shown in open geometry. It became a real design icon, a central symbol of modern times, it is the first piece of furniture that became a classic in the 60s.

There are many myths about the name of the Wassily chair. Some say it got its name because Wassily Kandinsky was the roommate of Marcel Breuer at the Bauhaus. Others say it only has the name because the chair was a design for Wassily Kandisky’s apartment in the Bauhaus in Dessau.

According to the Bauhaus philosophy, the Wassily has a particularly original, pure charm. Tubular chrome plated metal, beautiful cut and stitched black leather. This set of two original Wassily fauteuils are in good condition consistent with age and use.
