Horst Brüning was born in Hamburg in 1934 and studied architecture and interior design at the Hamburg Academy for Fine Arts until 1956.
After residences in Copenhagen and Stockholm, where he studied industrial design, in 1963 the Hamburger started a design and architecture practice in Stuttgart.

Apart from the development of table, armchair and chair programs for well-known manufacturers, in the mid 60s he started the design work for the Series 6910 with KILL International in Fellbach/Stuttgart, intended for both residential and office environments: according to the requirement back then, meeting the demands of minimalism, clarity, uniqueness, longevity and a seat quality corresponding to the shape.

During this period Horst Brüning also made contact with the Danish architects Jørgen Kastholm and Preben Fabricius, which resulted in a loose, friendly relationship with the two young designers and a successful exchange of ideas, which ultimately brought international recognition and success.

This set of two side tables are HB brandmarked and from the time Horst worked with Kill International.
