Piet Hein superellipse dining table for Fritz Hansen
Piet Hein, Arne Jacobsen, and Bruno Mathsson for Fritz Hansen. This design was originally introduced in 1968 and was part of a collaboration between Hein, Jacobsen, and Mathsson. Fritz Hansen’s Table Series includes the Superellipse, the Supercircular circular and rectangular tables designed by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen. The Superellipse table was inspired by the designer Piet Hein’s solution to a traffic problem at Sergels Torg in Stockholm: a super elliptical roundabout. Arne Jacobsen proves his incomparable sense of proportions with this design. Its 6-star base design recalls the Egg chair and Swan chairs and is rare to find on the Superellipse table, the 6 star makes the table welcome more easy up to 6 people, despite of it’s compact dimensions. The table we offer is in good condition consistent with age and use.
