Provenance
19th century ebonized oak side table. In these years wealthy people had pay tables stored in their hallways. This was to be able to make deals with people who came to the private homes of people to collect or deliver. The paytable was mostly with a more hidden drawer, to store money. The biggest advantage of such a table was that the deliverer or seller did not need to enter the home and only saw and stayed into the hallway. This table is from the 19th century and has the side drawer, is small but nicely detailed with carved wooden front. Table in good condition consistent with age and use.
