60s Severin Hansen writing desk for Haslev

Simplicity and an angular silhouette make this beautiful veneered desk a striking mid-century collectible. It has four elegant drawers and four long tapered legs. Produced by the renowned Danish manufacturer Haslev, this model is one of Severin Hansen’s most well-known designs. The desk’s miter joints, where the legs meet the apron, are typical for Hansen. This example is the larger version with four drawers; there is also a smaller version with three drawers.

Little is known about Severin Hansen’s life, and yet his designs show exceptional craftsmanship and use of materials.
