60s Werner Biermann low fauteuil for Arte Sano set/2
German born designer Werner Biermann settled in Colombia in the 1930’s and established a furniture factory which brought European and Scandinavian styles to South America. His son continued production of many of Biermann’s designs into the 1970’s and he exported to countries in Europe.
Biermann’s furniture design reflects his European background, but with a fresh input of South American mid-century design. 1960’s seating from Brazil and Argentina often included sling chairs and the use of leather and natural wood.
These rare low seat lounge chairs circa 1970 Biermann Colombian from the “Artesano” (which means “handmade”) Collection have natural wood frames and thick leather on a thin metal frame stitched around with beuatiful cross stiching.
On 1 chair this metal frame is a little visible, general condition is orginal, firm, stable and good consistent with age and use.
