80s Ernst W. Beranek ‘fine forms’ dining table for Thonet
A black lacquered wooden dining table references to some great designer of the 19th and 20th Centuries: Michael Thonet, Josef Hoffman and Otto Wagner. This table was designed by Ernst W. Beranek in Germany in the 1980s as an homage to the work of Michael Thonet. Note the special gold ‘stamp’ in the foot of the table reading ‘Michael Thonet 1796-1871’.
There are many stylistic influences. All which come together in one powerful and grand design fully matching the post moderen area of the 1980s. The chairs are part of a series that has named “fine forms’ and this name is still matched to Thonet designs of nowadays.
This table is extendable to max 415cm length but the table comes without tabletops for in between, and this is original ordered by the first owner of the table. The extra tabletops where separate to pay for and the first owner did not need them but choose te table for its double legged looks.
The table is in good condition consistent with age and use.
