80s Torstein Nilsen ‘totem’ table and chair set for Westnofa
This rare side chair and table were designed in Norway in 1984 by Torstein Nilsen for Westnofa.
The chair is of very luxury and high quality and made of natural oak lacquered in black. The individual legs of the ‘fan form’ in the backrest of the chair are ‘connected’ to eachother with solid wooden balls. The matching table makes this set very rare and unique. Very nice in entryway or as sidechair in the livingroom. Chair with a beautiful sculptural shape and this design is a steady example of scandinavian modernism, the Memphis Group and architectural post-modernism. Maybe a bit unexpected but the chair is also very comfortable with their slightly curved ergonomic back and fine seat.
