Sjer Jacobs is a visual artist and works from Belfeld in the Netherlands. Sjer has been making special images inspired by people since the 1990s. His fascination with people arose from drawing at an early age. The portraits that Sjer made at the Vrije Academie automatically grew into complete people. Sjer likes to look at people, almost shamelessly, at faces, postures, movements and mutual relationships. Sjer stores everything he sees in his memory and hardly thinks about it afterwards. But when they are needed, they pop out again and turn into paint, clay or plaster model. Almost shameless. From the moment it becomes a sculpture, they lead their own lives. They tell their own story. They evoke emotion and entice reflection. Sjer believes that art should speak for itself and need no explanation. This sculpture, confirmed by Sjer himself, was made in the years 1992/1993 and is one of the first works with people. Sjer remembers seeing children playing cowboy and Indian and the characteristic movement with their hands was a source of inspiration that he converted into this sculpture. The work is in good condition.
