90s Dominique Mathieu ‘petalo’ dining table for Zanotta
At the very end of the Bauhaus period some italian designers tried to mix parts of the bauhaus style into postmodern designs. For example this table that is designed by Dominique Mathieu and it shows this slight Bauhaus influence. Zanotta was not a huge bauhaus influencer. Ettore Sotsass used some thin legs under tables but in fact the Zanotta style was less basic and on. a different production level.
This table is very rare and is like an experiment with different form, plectrum form, ovals etc. Mix of bauhaus style and piano lacquered table top. The table shows spurs of usage in the piano lacquer as to be seen on the pictures, it gives the table in fact more status and character matching it’s almost 30 years of age.
Note: This ad concerns the petalo table only. The matching Zanotta chairs on the final pictures are also available though via the other ad on our site.
