Antonio Citterio ‘otto’ dining swivel chair for B&B Italia set/4
Antonio Citterio and B&B Italia are connected to eachother, not only by design but also by both’s love and interest for new technologies in productions. Though Citterio is more in the design interested he cannot without a production technology driven company to build his designs.
With the Otto chair, a dining and office chair, the search for new technologies has resulted in a project that has brought about these chairs. The design Antonio shared with Toan Nguyen and dates from 2006. Otto is a family of chairs whose innovative element is represented by the design of the backrest, made of two kinds of materials which ensure a high degree of comfort. Avant-garde technology, a remarkable aesthetic result, 360-degree functionality: these are the features of Otto chairs, which play on a mix of softness and flexibility, opacity and transparency.
Antonia Citterio was born in Meda and lives and works in Milan. He graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico of Milan and from 1972 he has worked for many leading manufacturers such as B&B Italia, Vitra and Kartell. He has also been engaged in architectural works dealing with construction projects and interiors both in Italy and abroad. He holds lectures and conferences all over the world and his work has been extensively exhibited and published.
The Otto series produces a higher degree of comfort, for a plastic chair, through the innovative use of varying flexibility, one matte (available in white, anthracite, grey or mustard yellow), the other in a softer semitransparent plastic. The chairs have been sold with different kind for feet and legs. This set is in the turnable four cross legs that give the chair a more inhome look and also shows the great quality of B&B Italia. In household usage these chairs are great because in fact cleaning of the chairs is very easy.
This set of four in different colors has some spurs of usage on them that shows extra character of these chairs in great looks. Good condition consistent with age and use.
