Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen EJ900 Cobra chair for Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik
Erik Jørgensen (1928-1998)
Erik Jørgensen established a workshop in the town of Svendborg on the southern coast of the island of Funen in 1954. Originally he was trained as a saddler and upholsterer but now applied his craft skills and in-depth knowledge of materials in his passion for furniture. By combining his skills and knowledge with his understanding of market trends, Erik Jørgensen grounded the roots for what is today an international furniture brand and a family firm, run by the second generation.
The EJ 900 Cobra chair is the counterpart of the Pipeline sofa. This bold design has taken cues from early modernist materials from the Bauhaus period with its tubular frame, mixed with pop era concepts.
The semi circle backrest is beautifully balanced ont the tips of slim vertical steel supports. The chair shows a visual experience, but has also a very comfortable seating. Orignial in navy color fabric with minor spurs of aging and use.
