00s René Holten ‘ondo’ rare red leather sofa for Artifort

René Holten (born in 1961) is a graduate of institutions including the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Design Academy Eindhoven. He has worked for the Dutch architect Wiel Arets as an architectural designer, and for Artifort as the head of product development (1993-1998). René likes working with Artifort because he is able to combine Artiforts history with his personal vision of the future on the brand but also on furniture design in general.

“It is my goal to produce designs that are able to stand the test of time” he once said. Beautiful example is the ‘ondo’ sofa. Design from 2003 for Artifort. Rising from the arm, the seat and back fuse together into the other arm. Simple principles provide the best design for a comfortable sofa. A sparse supporting frame allows the seat and back to float like a wave.

The sofa is decorated with full leather in a nice red color and maybe a little unexpected but the seat is also comfortable. Leather ondo sofas are very rare and this sofa is in a amazing beautiful condition!
