Ad Martens “Koningin”, A large polychrome ceramic, zinc and metal sculpture of an abstracted female figure with headdress on a three-pronged structure with an openwork surface on a granite base. 21st century, the Netherlands.
After a stay at the St. Joost evening academy in Breda, Adje experimented with various forms of art. Martens is originally a carpenter, he had a construction company and is very versatile. He was in a music band, did theater and can make anything with his hands. In 1996 he started making objects in steel. Industrial techniques such as galvanizing and powder coating produce a colorful and strong image. Ideas are followed in order to grow further and further in the form. A process then follows in which Adje tries to get deeper and deeper into the dreamed form: cathedrals – angels – winged ones. He continues to do this until a new idea arises. The natural shapes and Art Nouveau are a source of inspiration. The lines are smooth, transparent to the eye. In addition, his thoughts are a guideline for his artistry. Techniques such as plasma cutting and welding shape the work. Adje Martens’ work is purchased by both individuals and institutions. It can be seen in sculpture gardens at home and abroad. Much of his work is therefore maintenance-free and vandal-resistant.

This koningin sculpture, queen in english, is in very beautiful condition and is possible to position indoor or outdoor.
