30s Marcel Breuer S35 fauteuil for Thonet set/2
The Thonet S35 Lounge Chair is a design by Marcel Breuer from 1930. The design is an answer to the tubular steel construction developed by Mart Stam, which was completely new and innovative in the 1920s. In 1925 Stam designed his so-called cantilever chairs, without rear legs. This timeless construction can also be seen in the beautiful S35 series. The advantage of such a ‘floating’ base is the seating comfort, because due to the absence of the rear legs, the seat slightly bounces under the weight of the user. In addition, it contributes to the sleek and modern look of the chair.
To this day, the S35 Lounge Chair is an icon for the modern interior. All this time, the design has remained virtually unchanged. This set is in beautiful cognac leather on the bauhaus steel framing of the S35 fauteuil.
