60s coffee table ‘model B’ by J. Belarti
€575.00
J. Belarti discovered in 1958 that he could use a special baking and glazing technique to incorporate his idiosyncratic art creations into tiles with which he could make coffee tables, each with a unique image. He then designs a table top with a musical theme and from this all kinds of non-figurative table top designs emerged. The first Belarti studio, whose name is said to be a portmanteau of BELgian ARTIst Organization, was located in a garage containing an oven of a fairly small size. Belarti was founded in 1968 with the registration ‘artisanal production’ of various creations. And later the factory was located in Mechelen. This table is called model B in the J. Belarti Catalog book, a modern saloon table in a sober, sleek style that forms a harmonious whole. This table is in good condition commensurate with age and use.
