90s Boonzaaijer & Mazairac ‘totus sm10’ dining chairs for Hennie de Jong set/4
After his education at the Artibus academy in Utrecht, Pierre Mazairac worked for various employers as a stylist and interior architect. In 1972 he joined the furniture factory UMS-Pastoe in Utrecht. In 1980, together with Karel Boonzaadjer, he started his own design agency in Zeist, Mazairac and Boonzaadjer & partners. Later the design agency was called Mazairac Boonzaadjer en Van Tellingen & partners. It specialized in industrial design with a focus on furniture design and had a separate section that focused on architecture. Clients were important national and international manufacturers, including Pastoe, Hennie de Jong, Leolux, Metaform, Castelijn, Arco, Agape, IKEA. The partnership ended in 1995.
Pierre Mazairac has been living in Switzerland since 1996. Nowadays he mainly focuses on the so-called ‘leisure design’ (holiday parks, hotels and restaurants).
Mazairac and Boonzaadjer have been very strong in the field of dining room chairs and tables. The ‘Cirkel’ chairs, produced by Metaform, and the ‘SM01 and SM10, designed for Hennie de Jong, are products that were a great succes. They also designed for Castelijn, Arco and others.
This set of 4 dining ‘Totus SM10’ chairs have been designed in 1993 for Hennie de Jong. Chairs are in the postmodern setting blue and black leather and firm and comfortable. General condition is good, with some usage spurs in the leather.
